Sev Tomato

17 Jun

This is a really easy one and I pretty much followed exactly what Tarla Dalal said on her site. Here is a very short summary:

1) Cut the tomatoes into little pieces; not rings mind you.

2) Add a little oil to a frying pan and heat it.

3) Add Jeera and Mustard seeds to the Oil. Fry till the seeds start spluttering.

4) Add the chopped tomatoes, salt, chilly powder, turmeric, ginger powder and Garam masala

5) Fry/Simmer for around 15-20 minutes. If the tomato starts changing colour and becoming brown/black better turn the heat off .. its almost cooked 🙂

6) Take off the stove and add Sev to the mixture. There’s no fixed amount though. I used some 7 medium sized tomatoes to server 3 people; so that’s around 3-4 cups of cooked vegetable. So add around 1 to 1.5 cups Sev..that should be enough.

It tasted quite nice. Dad said though…that it would have been nicer if we had cut onions and coriander and sprinkled on top. Oh well…maybe next time.
